# The iWork Suite: Pages, Numbers, and Keynote

macOS comes with a powerful, free suite of productivity apps known as iWork. These apps—Pages, Numbers, and Keynote—are Apple's answer to Microsoft Office. They are designed to be beautiful, easy to use, and deeply integrated with macOS and iCloud.

## Pages (Word Processing)

Pages is a powerful word processor that lets you create stunning documents.

*   **Focus Mode**: A clean interface that lets you focus on writing.
*   **Templates**: Apple provides beautiful templates for resumes, reports, and books.
*   **Layout**: It excels at page layout, making it easy to place images and text exactly where you want them.
*   **Export**: You can easily export documents as Microsoft Word (`.docx`), PDF, or EPUB.

## Numbers (Spreadsheets)

Numbers takes a different approach than Excel. Instead of an infinite grid, you start with a blank canvas.

*   **Canvas**: You can place multiple tables, charts, and images on a single sheet.
*   **Visuals**: It is designed to make data look good. Charts and graphs are interactive and visually appealing.
*   **Formulas**: Supports hundreds of functions, compatible with Excel.

## Keynote (Presentations)

Keynote is widely considered the best presentation software available.

*   **Cinematic Transitions**: Features like "Magic Move" create smooth, professional animations between slides with zero effort.
*   **Remote Control**: You can use your iPhone or Apple Watch as a remote to control your presentation.

## Collaboration and iCloud

All three apps support real-time collaboration.

*   **iCloud Sync**: Documents are automatically saved to iCloud Drive, making them accessible on your iPhone, iPad, or via a web browser at iCloud.com.
*   **Real-Time Collaboration**: Share a link with others (even Windows users via the web) to edit documents together in real-time.

## Compatibility with Microsoft Office

While iWork uses its own file formats, it plays well with Office.

*   **Opening Files**: You can open Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files directly in iWork apps.
*   **Exporting**: To share with Office users, go to **File > Export To** and select the appropriate Office format (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
